The DSA class of juniors were fortunate enough to have this opportunity to take some career exploration visits. The DSA juniors class was split into three groups. One group went to Electronic Arts in redwood shores, and the other two groups went to San Francisco to bars and tone and AKQA. I was in the group that went to AKQA, which is across the street from the AT&T Park. AKQA is a media advertisement company that has won many awards for their ideas using all the latest technology. When we arrived at AKQA from a seven mile walk  along the Embarcadero we got a brief overview of what AKQA is and what they do. After that we got a tour of the building and we saw their most recent projects they were working on. When the tour was over we were split into groups and sent into different rooms with different activities for us. The activity i enjoyed most was the strategic activity, where we were asked to select a random object from the objects they laid out on  the table and to visually sell them the object and to make it look more appealing then it actually is. The object that my group chose was i believe to be a huge red scarf with feathers, and me and my groupmates made this scarf into a hat, a belt, an arm bracelete and a part of a costume. Essentiallly we made it a multi-use object. It was my favortie activity becasue my group got positive feedback and we understood exactly what we needed to do to sell the product, and we learned that this is what AKQA does. After that activity we sat down and go to know a little bit about the people who work on advertisement on websites. This was interesting because we got to see thier projects they’ve done and how they did it, and one of the main interesting things about it is that they work on websites my friends and i go on. i really enjoyed the fact that they were up-to-date and modernistic. We also got to eat pizza for lunch on their roof with a beautiful viewing of the city and bay. After that it was time to head back to bart and most of us were unsatified and wanted to stay and learn more but we were greatful to have the opportunity.

Day 3: I am Thankful for…

November 19, 2009

I am thankful for having the friends that i have. They fill in the blanks where family cant.  And you also get to pick them.haha.  im thankful that my friends now dont judge and they understand where my friends a while back made me unhappy. I am thankful to have found them and i never want to let them go. And the beauty of that is i never have to. That is what i am thankful for.

Day 2: I am Thankful for…

“Other things may change us, but we start and end with family.” Anthony Brandt

To me this quote means alot. And it is true in my life. I am thankful for my family not only because of the unconditional love but also for the fact i will always have them start to finish. Rich or poor, smart or dumb, good or bad i will always have some one to run to and hug. I am thankful for that becuase it is rare. It is rare because some people dont have families like that, i am truely blessed.

Day 1: I am Thankful for…

November 17, 2009

I am thankful for being born in a country where i am free.Free to express my self and explore new opportunities and get to speak out and stand up for what i believe.I am thankful for the privileges i have and that i have choices. Some people dont have that. Especially in other countries. I am not saying that my country is better but that i feel it is better for me and i wouldnt have it any other way. Ergo i am thankful as well grateful to be born and raised in the USA.

True story-

vocabulary words in this font-20 words

Yesterday i met my brothers new girlfriend. To say the least we were very surprised he has had a girlfriend this long. My brother is actually very picky but sage with his decisions. So me and my family were all eager to meet her,we cleaned our house which does not happen that often. My mom was very volatile like she always is when we have a special guest come to our house. She was running around and trying to prepare dinner, clean, and get my brother from football practice. I was in my room trying to be as expedite as i can to get my homework done for ms. Fontanillas class. I was so excited to meet her that i felt very vacuous with my homework and couldn’t concentrate .  Finally when they showed up i got to meet her along with my family and we all thought she was very benevolent. she had this presence that was decorous and idyllic. My mom tends to be very histrionic when she meets new people, she is way to happy and kind  its almost fake but i think me and my little brother were the only ones that were exasperated by it. Me and my family where confused by the way my brother was acting around his girlfriend last night, i have never seen this side of him in a while, he was very amorous with her and  juxtaposed and like nearly inseparable . It was weird. So my mom made this tasty dinner and we all pigged out while my mom and dad were telling her stories in almost a didactic way. My parents made sure to corroborate that my brother is independent, mature and not assailable like he has been since he was 6 years old making coffee already and acting like an adult. My family basically derided and embarrassed him in front of his new girlfriend. My parents would joke about my brother beeing unsterile when infact he is very fecund but would always say he doesnt want to have kids. My brother would sit there discordantly. I would often scrutinize my brothers face and it would look as if it would distend in embarrassment. So i would try to save my brother and change the subject but it would always end up in the same place. After dinner we chilled for awile and talked and when my brother felt a little less embarrassed there was this incandescent presence about him that we have not seen in a long time. I am really happy for my brother and wish him the best with his new girlfriend.

The end. =]
